‘Poor service and elusive engineers mean I won’t be renewing my Scottish Power boiler cover’

Since 2011 and until recently I was a customer of Scottish Power Boiler Care, an annual renewable policy providing breakdown cover and a gas boiler service every year.

Last year’s renewal was in March 2017 and my annual boiler service was due on January 6 2018. This timing was based on the last service on January 6 2017, which had already been delayed by them from October 7 2016.

With hindsight I should have heeded their poor service and not renewed then. I regret not doing so in the light of what has happened this year.

The company made no attempt to offer a service by January 6 2018. I eventually called on January 25 and made an appointment for February 8. This was cancelled by Scottish Power the day before and rescheduled for February 23.

This was again cancelled the day before and rescheduled for February 26. This date came and went with no contact from the service. It has my landline, mobile and email details so there are no excuses.

Yet another day was wasted waiting in for the irritatingly elusive engineer.

You had been paying £16.41 a month for this boiler cover since March 2014. Instead of providing a regular annual service, there were gaps of varying lengths between each service as well as unreliability when it came to the appointments.

This time, having found it virtually impossible to get through on the phone, you had written in to complain.
