Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appeared on Fox News on Sunday with Host Shannon Bream, and he basically said that President Donald Trump was not a true conservative leader.

Bream asked whether Pompeo would be better at managing debt than Trump was should he run for the White House.

“I think a President Pompeo or any conservative president will do better than not only we did during the four years of the Trump administration, but Barack Obama, George Bush,” Pompeo said.

He went further saying that the list is long of people who come to Washington on one theory and are not prepared to stand up and talk to the American people about how to get things right.

“We have $31 trillion in the hole. We’ve got to begin to grow the economy and build it back with lower taxes. When we do that and grow our economy, we’ll get it right. It’s when you take a true conservative leader,” Pompeo said to Beam.

That’s when the CNN host asked him if President Trump was not a true conservative leader.

“Six trillion dollars more in debt, that’s never the right direction for the country, Shannon.”
Pompeo has not yet officially announced that he will seek the White House in 2024. In November, he rejected the idea that he had shifted away from Trump. He was still maintaining that the administration did really good work. But those days seem to be gone now.

Pompeo spoke at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in National Harbor, Maryland. Former President Trump overwhelmingly won the Republican primary straw poll and Gov. DeSantis came in a distant second.

Bream pressed him on his comments at the event which many on social media believed were about Trump. He said, ”We can’t become the left, following celebrity leaders with their own brand of identity politics, those with fragile egos who refuse to acknowledge reality.”
