What should have been a glamorous movie premiere for Sydney Sweeney spiraled into yet another culture war clash when the “Euphoria” star was heckled on the red carpet and branded “racist” by a woke protester. The outrage stems not from anything she said, but from an American Eagle jeans ad with a cheeky pun—“Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”

The online mob took that harmless joke and twisted it into accusations of Nazi eugenics. Yes, really.

The now-viral ad, which features Sweeney wearing jeans and flashing a smile, has triggered accusations from left-wing activists claiming it promotes “fascist messaging” and “eugenics.” One TikToker even claimed the ad would go down in history as “Nazi propaganda.” Another user called the clothing brand “faschy-coded” and said it was designed to “revive the Third Reich.”

Sweeney has refused to apologize or even acknowledge the hysteria, brushing off the heckler’s outburst at the Sunday night premiere of her new film Americana in Hollywood. She appeared completely unfazed as she posed for photos alongside co-stars Halsey and Simon Rex, while director Tony Tost laughed off the drama.

The moment the heckler shouted “Stop the ad. That is being racist!” was caught on video, but Sweeney simply kept walking. The protester—joined by the usual cast of social media influencers with nose rings and purple hair—was reportedly reacting to both the ad and recent buzz that Sweeney may be a registered Republican in Florida.

BuzzFeed broke that rumor last week, citing voter registration records indicating Sweeney switched affiliations in 2024. The actress hasn’t confirmed or denied the report, but if true, it would explain the growing hostility from the left.

Even President Trump weighed in when asked about it Sunday. “That’s what I wouldn’t have known, but I’m glad you told me that,” he said. “If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.”

White House communications chief Steven Cheung echoed that sentiment, blaming the backlash on left-wing insanity. “Cancel culture run amok. This warped, moronic, and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024,” Cheung said. “They’re tired of this bullshit.”

The media, as usual, helped fan the flames. Several outlets labeled the ad “controversial,” with some claiming it reflects a cultural shift “toward whiteness.” American Eagle has stood firm, offering no apology or edits to the original campaign.

This is far from the first time Sweeney has been attacked by the left. In 2022, she faced criticism for her family’s patriotic-themed birthday party that featured American flags and MAGA hats—gasp!—on some guests. At the time, she said she shouldn’t have to apologize for loving her country.

Now, with a breakout career, a successful fashion campaign, and mounting evidence of her conservative leanings, Sweeney has become a prime target for the progressive cancel machine. But unlike many of her peers, she’s not backing down—and that’s exactly what her critics can’t stand.

Whether or not she ever confirms her politics, the left has already decided she’s one of them. And in 2025, that’s all it takes to be their next public enemy.
