In a bombshell revelation from a forthcoming tell-all book, one of Kamala Harris’s top advisers, David Plouffe, is putting the blame for the Democrats’ 2024 election disaster squarely on Joe Biden’s shoulders.
“It’s all Biden. … He totally f***ed us,” Plouffe is quoted as saying in Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again — the highly anticipated book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, scheduled for release May 20.
According to Plouffe, Biden’s decision to remain in the race long past his political expiration date created a “f***ing nightmare” scenario for Kamala Harris, who was left scrambling to revive the ticket after Biden eventually bowed out.
The book paints a scathing portrait of Biden’s final months in office, with revelations about aides allegedly weighing the optics of putting the aging president in a wheelchair. Ultimately, they decided against it out of fear it would doom his already shaky re-election campaign.
Plouffe — a top Democratic strategist and veteran of the Obama campaigns — claims that donors were sounding the alarm early over Biden’s visible mental and physical decline, but were repeatedly reassured by White House officials and DNC operatives that everything was under control.
The result? A humiliating loss, a fractured party, and a lasting sense of betrayal among Harris loyalists who feel the president’s ego torched their last chance to hold onto power.
While Plouffe unleashes on Biden in the book, others are now pointing fingers at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said back in November that Pelosi championed Biden’s decision to stay in the race — until she didn’t.
“She embraced this ‘she’s the godmother, she’s the enforcer.’ And now she’s blaming Biden,” Fetterman fumed. “Well, you can’t have it both ways. You got what you wanted.”
According to the reporting, Biden’s team also seriously considered ways to downplay his failing health, with aides even floating the idea of mobility assistance during public appearances — a strategy ultimately rejected for being too damaging to his image.
The White House has yet to respond to the report. Biden himself, who’s remained largely silent since exiting the race, declined to comment through his spokesperson when reached by Politico.
The book promises even more behind-the-scenes drama and has already reignited the civil war within the Democratic Party, as leaders scramble to rewrite history and salvage credibility ahead of the 2026 midterms.
With the release of Original Sin just days away, the dam is beginning to break — and the Harris team’s rage is pouring out in full view. For a party that prides itself on unity, the internal blame game is just getting started.
