In yet another display of utter disregard for authority and common sense, a 24-year-old woman from Millville, N.J., Zyair J. Dennis, faces charges of defiant trespassing and ordinance violations following a disturbing incident at the Cohanzick Zoo.
According to authorities, Dennis brazenly scaled multiple barriers on August 18th, putting herself and potentially others at risk. Her reckless actions were captured on camera as she invaded the enclosures housing both the tiger and bear exhibits.
Bridgeton Police revealed that their investigation was sparked by videos and photographs provided by concerned zoo-goers, showcasing Dennis’ irresponsible behavior. The footage clearly depicts her jumping over safety fencing, approaching the confined animals, and even attempting to interact with them – including inserting her hand into the tiger’s cage mere inches from certain catastrophe.
Miraculously avoiding serious harm or worse, Dennis retreated only after the agitated predator responded accordingly. A second instance caught on tape involved a repeat offense near the bears’ habitat.
Consequences finally caught up with this thrill-seeker, now slated to face justice in City Municipal Court early next month. As news broke, efforts to contact Dennis proved unsuccessful, leaving questions about potential legal representation unanswered.
Unsurprisingly, parallels can be drawn to the infamous 2019 episode at NYC’s Bronx Zoo, where another misguided individual entered the lions’ den, imperiling themselves just steps away from becoming lunch.
